A self-guided walking tour of Historic Corolla, played as a game. One flat 1.5-mile loop, twenty-four challenges, and a village that’s been keeping its stories on public signs for anyone who slows down to read them.
What you’ll do
Your phone leads the way through Historic Corolla Park and the old village — past Whalehead, the Currituck Beach Lighthouse grounds, the one-room schoolhouse, and the little chapel — with a GPS check-in at every stop, photo challenges, and trivia you solve by reading what’s actually in front of you. Every stop is outdoors, on public ground, and open every day of the week.
One of the park’s own signs even explains where the name Currituck comes from. Finding it is part of the game.
Good to know
Start at Historic Corolla Park. One phone runs the hunt for the whole team, so only the navigator has their face in a screen. Come any day — daylight hours are best — and take it at your own pace.
